If you are a non-profit organization seeking financial support for your program/initiative from the
Kiwanis Club of Pueblo Foundation, please submit the following :
- A one-page letter of intent to apply.
- Include the name of your organization, address, and phone number.
- Describe the project for which you are requesting support and how its
purpose aligns with the mission of Kiwanis.
- The amount you are requesting.

Objectives of Foundation Grants
The Pueblo Kiwanis Club Foundation’s mission is to raise, manage, and distribute funds to support programs in Pueblo County that improves the lives of children. As such, the Foundation expends funds and distributes funds to other organizations for charitable or educational purposes that make a difference in the lives of Pueblo County children.
The Foundation looks for proposals that reflect careful planning and demonstrate a strong base of support. Service projects must support the ideals and objectives of Kiwanis International as well as the Pueblo Kiwanis Club Foundation’s mission.
The Pueblo Kiwanis Club Foundation is primarily interested in funding service projects that can demonstrate an impact on the needs of children in the community. Grant applicants should keep in mind that priority is given to projects that:
- Reach those persons who are not met by existing services.
- Request seed money for innovative programs in the Foundation’s field of interest.
- Encourage matching gifts or additional funding from other donors.
- Allow involvement of Kiwanis members through volunteer service.
- Promote Pueblo Kiwanis Club through the event or project publicity.
- Fund a specific project rather than general organization operation.
- Are completed in the funding year (rather than multi-year projects).
Timing
Requests for grants will be considered on a monthly basis and must be made in writing using the Foundation Grant Request Form obtained on the Kiwanis web site or a Kiwanis Foundation Board member. The Foundation board will award grants on a monthly basis and will advise all applicants of the decision of the Board following the board meeting it is reviewed unless further information is required to complete consideration.
Applying for a Grant
Recognizing that applicant requests will differ in size and scope, the following information should be included in a grant request from your organization.
Submit six copies of the Grant Application Form, which includes the name, address, and telephone number of the person to be contacted if more information is required in the approval process. Provide the name of the person responsible for making the final report of the project and expenditures within 90 days after the grant is received or the program/project is completed.
Unless otherwise approved by the Foundation Board, grants are intended to be completed expended for the approved projects and/or programs during a one-year period after the funds are granted.
State the purpose of your group and describe the population you serve.
Your grant request should include the following information requested on the Foundation Grant Request Form:
- Describe your proposed project, including a detail of the funds required and the sources.
- How will this grant benefit children who live in Pueblo County?
- Why is your organization the best group to sponsor this project or program?
- Is this a pilot program? Has it been tried elsewhere and to what results?
- Describe your efforts to obtain funding from other sources (businesses, foundations, government, etc.)
- How will you recognize the contributions of the Pueblo Kiwanis Club should your request be approved
- Are there opportunities for Kiwanians to be involved with your project on a volunteer basis?
Grant Reporting
All awarded grantees must submit receipts or proof that the funds awarded were used for the stated and intended purposes. Failure to do so may jeopardize future grant awards.
Grantees should submit a report back to the Foundation Board within 90 days of receipt of contribution or program conclusion. The report should include a summary of how the grant benefited the organization or event and provide evidence that the Pueblo Kiwanis Club was mentioned in publicity of the event or project (news clippings, programs, photographs, etc.).
